How this event started...

This event started as a "Passion Project" when I taught grade 8 in 2018-2019. The students and I chose something that we were passionate about and created a project out of it. Some students learned how to play an instrument, some learned a new language or skill, others put on clinics for younger students to learn developmental skills for sports such as lacrosse and basketball, and some students, like myself, organized fundraising events. My students motivated me to bring my idea to life. Their curiosity and enthusiasm with my project, allowed me to get uncomfortable and learn how to organize and manage a live event.

Running has always been a way I could clear my mind and take care of my health.

I have completed many Half Marathons, Full Marathons and one UltraMarathon in

2018. I started trail running almost 10 years ago and it has quickly developed into a

passion that my partner and share. In the early winter of 2019, I lost my

grandmother to Alzheimer's. It is difficult to watch someone you love become a

stranger. I have always had a special connection to my grandma and I found it hard

to visit her near the end. This disease does not just affect the person going through

it... it affects your whole family.

I hope to bring awareness to our community by organizing this event and raising money for Alzheimer's. I have learned a lot over the past 5 years and I am continuously trying to find new ways to make this event bigger and better each time. This event is special to me and I appreciate all the support you have given me so far. Please help spread the word and share this website with others who may be interested in joining next year. Together, we can make a difference!
