2019 Walk/Run 4 ALZ Charity Event

Every year has a story. In 2019, we created a fun charity run/walk to raise money for Alzheimer's research. This was my first time organizing an event so it was far from perfect, but it was a great learning experience! Thank you to a good friend of mine, Lori Meyer, who took these pictures so we could capture these precious moments on film. The pictures turned out great and we are excited to share them with you all!

ABOUT DEMENTIA AND ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE

Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia and accounts for 60 percent to 80 percent of dementia cases (Alzheimer's Association, 2020). Alzheimer’s disease is an irreversible, progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks (NIA, 2017). In 2010, an estimated 35.6 million people worldwide were living with dementia, a number that is expected to double by the year 2030 (Stats Canada, 2016).
